Unusual deck in a Graetz Radiogram
This stereogram was yet another recent junk market 'rescue' and my thanks to my good pal Bobbyball of this parish for his help in identifying it.
It's an early 1960s Graetz (of Germany), but interestingly it's an export model (with no LW but plenty of SW bands, MW and FM) and seems to have spent some of it's early life in Canada. It features six speakers and a valve radio chassis complete with plug-in stereo decoder. When the Graetz was brought into the UK, it was fitted with a RS autotransformer to provide the required step-down from our mains to the 115v it was designed for. I guess at this point the record deck was also changed to one I've not come across before. It's a UK-made model by Glenburn. Ring any bells with anyone? The label under the deck states '(c) 1972'. There's no stylus present and I'm not sure what cartridge it uses. It's very slim indeed to fit the slender headshell. If anyone can identify it from the photo then I can (hopefully) find a replacement stylus. The cartridge works, although the flash photo shows it to be full of dust, just as the rest of the radiogram was! Over to you! Steve |

That's great Lawrence. In fact I think that answers all my questions.

Looking at the picture of the catridge it looks like it could be based on a BSR SC7M2 Cartridge that has the headshell integrated into the cartridge, this will take a flip style stylus st16 that plays 78/45/33

Re: Unusual deck in a Graetz Radiogram
It's certainly similar in presentation isn't it.
The thread in Lawrence's link provides some very interesting information on Glenburn. When I first saw the deck I assumed it was a BSR as it has that look and feel about it. Now I know why! Steve |

If the cartridge is the same as the one in Lawrence's post, which it appears to be, then it's a Tetrad model.
The Stylus Lady lists a replacement stylus at a very reasonable price. I have bought a couple of items from her recently, and would have no hesitation in doing so again. |
