Anyone know what make/ model this cartridge is? I can't find any markings on it. It came on a Garrard SP25 MK III. It has a decent output but the stylus could do with changing.

Hi Birdman,

Looks a lot like a Shure to me. Have a look at these:

Even though yours is unmarked they look very similar.

The most common cartridges to be found in Garrard SP25s are the budget Shures and Goldrings. This one does not look like a Goldring to me.

The stylus guard is very Shure-like, but Shures normally have obvious branding on the front. Maybe it's been fitted with some sort of third party stylus.

I would just fit an Audio Technica AT91 cartridge rather than mess about trying to track down (say) an M75-6 stylus. It won't cost much more, will have similar performance, and you know you're getting a genuine original spec stylus.

Looks very much like a Shure, but I did a bit of searching on Google and it looks like a knock off or cheap copy.

Thanks for the pointers everyone. I suspect I will go along the audio technica route as Paul suggests, as it may well be a cheap copy. The stylus looks very similar to some of the Shure styli on some sites, but it's not easy to be certain without any identifying marks on the cartridge itself.
