Can you put me down for a pair as well, I may also try and get the image printed onto a couple of cushions.

Colin: Who knew...?

The image I posted in #50 was auto-resized to 800 x 800 by the forum pixies when I attached it. Anyone thinking of having it put on something larger than a beer mat might want to make a higher resolution version of it.

I made the 'original' by loading a PDF of the MK14 V2 manual, which Tim hosts here:-

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UvE...humvbxxGL/view

... and I cropped out the bit I wanted as an exact square and painted out what was left of the 'Training Manual' text before saving the cropped image.

Sorry, that was probably 600 x 600 (600 px being the maximum height the forum allows).

Getting there after printing lots of elephants and christmas trees on my 3D printer.

I should have eight coasters/mats tomorrow.

I reckon this is the list right now - 2 each for

realtime

If anyone else wants any or any of you want more than 2, please shout. I'll finish printing and then get a price for you. They're easy to print so I can print more any time.

Colin.

Well done Tim and Realtime, you certainly got the MK14 noticed between you. As soon as I heard his opening remarks about Space Invaders and a machine which ought not to be running it, I knew it had to be the MK14 and Realtime's Invaders.

(Not quite sure what KJ meant about right and fire being mapped to the same button.. even on that footage I could see the 'ship' moving right and not firing, and firing and not moving right.. (?)).

I had actually wondered whether you (Tim) would do a video but having seen KJ's I can't imagine you would have had the time.

At just over 6 minutes there was a quick glimpse of a Sord M5 but it didn’t get a mention. The g-basic on those was almost good enough to write graphic games with collision detection and movement of sprites. The lack of software and the introduction of msx not long after its release meant it never took off in the market. I still have one I bought cheap in clearance sales.

(MK14 Coasters / Mats) - mine have arrived, Colin, thanks. Looking at them, if you can mix colours so finely it makes me think you might be able to print yourself some legended keytops with the legends already 'embedded' in them - I don't know if your printer can manage the kind of resolution which would be required?

It is a little better visible in my photo, this was the stand from Adrian I think (Binary Dinosaurs) - I did think of doing a video but, time was just too limited - I have a lot of static photos so may still do one but Kim captured the essence.

The Right and Fire seems to be an artifact of the way the scan is happening as indeed sometimes the fire triggers even if you are not holding it. I must investigate sometime.

That's Adrian Page-Mitchell's stand, who also works at the museum.

Whats the board with toggle switches and hex displays at the front left of the table? Is it a replica of something or a variation on the scrumpi?

Hmm, I didn't see this when I had the marathon session that first time I played it but then I was using keys. Do you have the joystick up and down switches connected and if so can you try disconnecting them so that you only have L+fire+R connected?

I might have to have a go at this myself now.

Good to know MK14man is obviously still around, did you ever discover whether there were more of those 'modern' MK14 rebuilds of his ever made available? I know he did an AVR based MK14 emulator, similar concept to Karen's PIC based one. Nice view of the National Introkit as well.

I certainly plan to model and print some key tops as you say. I'll make them available for all of they are successful.

Colin.

Thats the Andrew Aitken SC/MP system Mark, see:
https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...d.php?t=171478
Built it in 1980 it has very Scrumpi-like origins but I changed it a bit, I used a bytewide ram and piggybacked a 2716 eprom on top with Kitbug, to which I added bits & bobs which became KitbugPlus as on the PICL V2.
In its original (simplest) form the programming is supremely tedious:
Set the toggles for C4 (load immediate)
Single step
Set the toggles for the byte you want to store
Single step
Set the toggles for C9 (store relative to P1)
Single step
Set the toggles for the address you want to store it at
Single step
.... and repeat!!! Four steps per byte entered. It was bliss to run Kitbug!

A couple of pics/scans attached, zipped as the diagrams are unreadable after the forum resizes them.
Heres the mag: https://worldradiohistory.com/UK/Pra...cs-1980-04.pdf
Cheers

Well there's a coincidence. My uncle had an advert in that very issue for some UK101 games he wrote (p. 99).

I hope they have been preserved - software for these old systems is pretty rare...
