Roberts 29806 radio 1945-50 era
Hi
A neighbour has brought across to me a Roberts 29806 radio ( I think 29806 is the model number) that is a battery only radio, I think it dates around about 1945-50, it has 4 valves, DK32, DF33, DAC32 and a DL35, I believe that the battery is or was a 90Volt + 1.5 Volt. Would any of our readers have a circuit for the radio and also a circuit for a "battery eliminator" that either fits that particular radio or one that could be modified to work on it. Many thanks Bill |

That doesn’t appear to be a Roberts radio model number, I could be wrong of course. Some photos of the set and chassis may confirm a model number.

Sounds like the serial number from the control panel under the lid, within the expected range for a P4D which the valves would also suggest. The Trader sheet is on Paul's disc, or £1.99 to download from top right of this page.

Hi
Yes, that looks like its the one many thanks. What I am possibly going to do now is to make a battery eliminator, I have found a circuit and it will depend on if the neighbour wants to go ahead. Thank you for the very quick replies. Regards Bill |

Re: Roberts 29806 radio 1945-50 era
A word of caution about the heaters in the valve, they are 50ma they will be quite fragile (DL32 100ma) and easily damaged by overload.
Perhaps worth testing the radio with a 1.5 volt battery for the heaters, the 90 volts can be made from 10 cheap PP3 batteries. May as well do initial testing and repair from a known power source.
