1970s UV + IR LAMP.
Guessing by the Orange colour that it is early 1970s.
It is in full working order. Notice the lack of any protection from the heater or UV lamp. |

Re: 1970s UV + IR LAMP.
Yes I remember this well.
My parents had one new when we were kids. It was bought in about 1977. It has a little pull out tape measure with it on the front, and came with little red googles and from memory had a timer which turned the light off after a predetermined time. It was meant to give us or maintain a sun tan from what we kids were told - but I remember seeing no actual change to our skin tone. It was called Philips Ultraphil or something similar if I recall. Think it packed up after about 3 years and was never replaced. |

Ah - convenient, portable in-home promotion of Malignant Melanoma .
How innocent people were a few decades ago. [Only a few decades earlier there were products available for home-administering Radium enemas] |

Yes- cataract generator/skin degrader, unprotected fire risk/hazard to children and animals. Perhaps it has a niche application for ageing fake documents?
Interesting "of its time" curio, though. |
