Well done Lawrence,it is a wire wound 250 k ohm Anode load resistor it states its constant and damp proof, I suppose it's allowed to be o/c after all these years no sign of damp though I have done one, the ends come off quite easily I drill a hole through the ends and fit a modern resistor , made by the Varley magnet company , back to the set now another steam radio I am working on .Mick.

Making 250,000 ohms with any resistance wire must be very many turns of very fine wire! As mentioned, it can be forgiven for being open-circuit after all that time, I wonder how reliable they were in the day?
