Silent Key Open Day / Sale - UK Vintage Radio Repair and Restoration Discussion Forum

Hey all - This has been posted with the permission of the moderators

(Can this be pinned until after the event please?)

On Sunday the 16th July from 10am until 4pm there will be an open day in Belper, Derbyshire.

There is a whole house of goodies to go through and pick from as the old fellow was a hoarder...

Some of categories are :

Military
Broadcast
Computers
Spare Parts
Cine Film
Radios
Hifi
Valves

Literally rooms full.

Everything on the day will have a guide price but everything is open to reasonable offers and all of the funds raised will go to the family to help with expenses.

I will not be listing individual items here but it would be well worth a trip with a big car!!

Tea and coffee will be available too.

Please PM me for the address etc closer to the day but I do hope as many of you will come as possible, it would be a shame to see much of it skipped.

I have taken a few pics today of some of the rooms. Please note there is so so much stuff in boxes that I haven’t been able to reach and even an attic to go through yet.

I will not entertain any pre offers on anything in the pictures and also won’t be posting anything. If you want something you need to come on the day or it will be skipped the day after.

I'd love to, but it would be at least 3pm before I could even get there. Is there any possibility of opening for more than one day?

I must say that I'm sorely tempted, though Belper is something of a schlep from West Cumbria - and I already have a few rooms resembling those in the pictures.

Blimey. A cautionary tale indeed. There's a 100% chance I could save things from the skip. But at 300 miles from Truro that's a big day out. Couldn't it at least go to a house clearance firm?

I would love to come as I live just down the road in Belper!!. There are some interesting things there.

Maybe after the day has ended and there are a few items left over that could be useful to the vintage radio community, I would be happy to take them here to store for the next BVWS B&B stall or to collect from here. Saves anything useful being skipped.

The issues we have are :

I’m not local and doing this for a dear friend.
The house is already sold and they are desperate to get the keys.

As for saving things from the skip, that’s on your own prerogative after the the event but I am trying to raise some money for the family to help them out.
