Karma must be shining today..
So this morning I joined this forum to get help with Vintage radios...
Went out before lunch to get shopping and a new lino for the bathroom, and also decided to pop into a local junk shop that I go in very occasionally. Hidden under some shelves, with it's back pointing out was an old TV set. As I started to investigate it I knew I may just have to buy it.... Sure enough on closer inspection I recognised it ( bear in mind I am only 44? ) as a vintage Hitachi. One may parents had had 30+ odd years ago. The "TU-75" was to be mine. The guy wanted £20 ( I had not even tested it, nor did I really care) I also found an Amstrad GX-4000 console so I offered £30 for the pair... Then found a nice and very stylish Yamaha PC-100 synth, he said £15... Offered £40 for the lot and he accepted.. Got home, plugged in the TV and it came to life, Plugged in the GX-4000 and that worked and we played a quick game of Burnin Rubber. The Amstrad and Yamaha are not for keeping and I recon will recoupe ~£90 So my classic TV will have cost be -£30.... Awesome. Rob |
