When I rewired my French house (to NF of course) I made sure that the socket polarity was consistent and also followed the UK pinout standard.

Hi,
So did I. It's only very recently that French socket manufacturers have started colour coding the terminals. Previously, only the earth terminal was clearly marked and the rest was left up to the installer. Cheers, Pete.
