Default Telephone 312F

Picked up today, a Tele 312F in ivory (seem to have a thing about 300s at the moment). A couple of little nibbles, but in generally very tidy condition, with everything working as it should. An additional bonus is that it was produced in the same year as I was - 1956. All the dates correspond.

One quick query - having never been near one of these beauties before, I'm surprised at how different the casing feels to the standard black Bakelite. I think I read somewhere that the casings for these were made from a different, almost plastic material. Can anyone advise on this please?

I attach a few photos which might be of interest.
