Default Garrard RC110 service manual

Hi all, new to this forum, but have been a long time reader.
looking for a little help.
currently restoring a garrard RC110.
got to the point where it runs, but all speeds are slow.
The pulley is the correct one (50hz), motor has been stripped and cleaned, the idler appears to be in good condition.
so I am left with a couple of potential causes.

the spring that holds the idler to the pulley may be weak, but seems to engage ok.
or
the platter bearings are bad. Have taken off the platter and looked, the ball race appears ok, but I am convinced there is something not right there, platter seems lower than I think it should be and doesnt rotate as smoothy as I think it should.

does anyone have any diagrams or photos of how this bearing should look/ be set up.
Or better yet, does anyone have a copy of the service manual. they could pass on.

thanks in advance.

The service sheet for the RC110/4H - this is the 1956 4 speed version of your 1953 RC110 - is readily available from the Vinyl Engine site and can be downloaded free.
It will be titled as an EMI RC110/4H, but it's the same. They are very similar except, of course, for the stepped drive pulley and some cosmetics.

Hello, when you say the ball race seems ok, are the ball bearings definitely in there ? It is quite common when removing the centre bearing for these to fall out. That would explain the lower position of the turntable and would cause drag. You can guess how I know this and I have heard many more tales of it happening.
It usually ends up with an online search for I think, 15/32" balbearings
Do have a good look to see that they are all still there.

15/32" are very large balls for anything turntable related! 5/32" perhaps?

Thanks for the replies.
I swapped out the bearings for new ones.
The original bearings are 3/32.
Its all a bit one step forward two back at the minute.
The tonearm isn't travelling now,
This then clicks everything off.
Hoping the service sheet give me some clues.

You are absolutely right guys, 3/32". I have just searched my storage drawers and there they were. In my defence it was many years ago .

Hi all, still struggling to find the service manual/sheet mentioned above. Vinyl engine has the service manual for an RC120/4H. Need to examine this and check how similar they are.
One more ask to the knowledgeable folks out there. Can the spindle be removed? And if so is there something retaining it. I have loosened what appears to be the two screws holding it but it doesn't budge. But this may just be the hardened crud of 50 years or more.

As Edward said, Post 2. VINYL ENGINE is the place to be. If they don't have the exact manual, do a search for relevant threads. Someone is bound to have asked before.
