Default Other vintage electronic fora

I would be interested to know what other vintage electronic fora members use or know of. Even fora in other languages are worth noting.

No need to mention Golborne or VRAT as I know them both well.

I'm not familiar with non-UK forums, except for one with a narrower scope that occurs to me if you are interested in Narrowband Television, which is http://www.taswegian.com/NBTV/forum/.

Yahoo has a number of radio-specific groups: the "PRC320" one is worth signing up to if you've got such a radio.

[Nice thing about the Yahoo groups is that you can get the 'digests' of group activity sent to you daily/weekly via email]

forums.qrz.com is also worth a look for discussion of assorted Ham-radio gear.

the Dutch transistor forum www.philipsradios.nl/forum (only transistor and hybrid sets)
the Dutch mfbfreaks.com forum forum.mfbfreaks.com (hifi, mostly Philips 1970's and 1980's)

other fora I visit include:
www.buizenradioclub.nl
www.radiomuseum.org

Classic Rotary Phones.com

Electrical Contractor.net has mostly modern USA stuff but has some vintage and non-USA sections.

Not a forum, but I grieve the loss of historyofpa website

Thanks for all your help.

It struck me, while searching for some data on here, that maybe another forum may have the answer to a problem or cover a model that is not normally found here. With the help of Google translate even fora not in English could be a worthwhile resource.

Eventually I will correlate all the data and publish it as a spreadsheet.

Though it's US-centric the "AM Forum"

http://amfone.net/Amforum/index.php

is worth looking at occasionally: there are plenty of old-timers there whose interest is in AM "Boat-anchor" type radios whether amateur, militaty or broadcast.

Not a forum but useful if you need circuits of German radios:
Downloadable circuits for German radios

And here it is in English:
Translation

Mods: please put this in a more appropriate place if necessary.

There are so many that you are unlikely to ever get a complete list. Yahoo hosts dozens via its "Groups" facility. Some of those have moved to groups.io - which appeared to be set up because Yahoo had so many spamming problems.

Off the top of my head, there are groups covering the PRC-320, Larkspur/Clansman radios, Marconi test equipment, several covering HP test equipment, a group covering manuals for vintage equipment, a T1154/R1155 group, a Rohde & Schwarz group, the WS19 group, there are two groups under the "vmars" name, one on Tek scopes, and one for the ARC-5. Those are just groups I know covering the military and test equipment fields since those are my interests. Given they are minority interests - I suspect there will many many more covering broadcast vintage radio.

As promised here is a spreadsheet with what I have so far. I have not so far started looking at Yahoo or Groups.io. Richard's list at least gives me a starting point.

Still looking for more fora

The Dutch transistorforum, formerly at http://www.philipsradios.nl/forum, is working again. Its official url is now http://www.transistorforum.nl/forum but the old url will redirect to there so old links won't break.

Yep, VMARS & Yahoo Groups. Yahoo Groups have an excellent Eddystone & Sailor Radio group. Lets not forget the Golborne Forum - a number of ex and present members of this VRR&R Forum use it. Another is - "Ships Nostalgia" & their "Radio Room" sub-forum. Can be an excellent source of info for folk with an interest in vintage maritime radio equipment.
But these are all "computer based" meeting places. For some time now I've been encouraging folk on this forum to make the effort to occasionally meet up with other forum folk in their locality for a chat/coffee/sticky bun/pint/whatever. Swap bits & bobs, help & advise, seek help & advice, share info, & so on. Nothing formal - just a casual occasional get-together.

Regards, David
