Forgive my ignorance, but what are 'Streamers' that this device can be placed on?

Ian

Edit
or the casings that contain the streamers?

internet-based music players.

That's just their marketing department trying to expand sales by suggesting wondrous results from anything you place one of these amazing devices on top of. At £500.00 a pop, the marketing department will definitely see their advantage.

If only they'd made it pyramid shaped, it would also sharpen razor blades.

It's funny that streamers have been mentioned, as word has reached my inbox that one of the gurus of all things sensibly priced and not at all silly, Computer Audio Design, has just announced its 'Ethernet Control' noise reducer - a stupendous bargain at a mere £1,250.

https://www.computeraudiodesign.com/...ernet-control/

I'll take three!

I hear you! Three in series might just make it even better than the source.

If you buy only one and place it atop your chimney, does it improve everything below it in the house? Hifi gets better, toast comes out toastier, wine turns to vintage, boiler runs smoother.... ?

Something like the cone of protection below a lightning conductor?

Apologies if posted before, but every so often an idea comes along that challenges the sensibilities, shakes our understanding of the universe, but .... but ... no, I am struggling with this one.

This egg is placed anywhere on top of the sound system.
It is mandatory to take our blind test before purchase. (Search Youtube for "Audiophile Rocks Blind Test")

This Orca Egg is a used one that has been repainted, it looks like new. Used for a year by a customer in Hong Kong who liked it so much he upgraded to our flagship model.

(The flagship model is the black and white one, listed here, approx £80)

It be them danged nano-crystals working their magic again!

Thread died a bit there but an email I received today of the Munich HiEnd Audio wotnot, see - https://www.hificollective.co.uk/blo...24-report.html shows that the art of skanking old fella's with too much cash is alive and well.

First off, who's for twin & earth mains RCA cable? See pic 1. Second, play a record if you get restless lift some weights, might make the straight from master tape to venal pressing of Sgt Wonkers skip a bit though, pic 2. Lastly Spherical listening for the hard of hearing.

Enjoy, Andy.

I suspect the real target, evidenced by the usual prices, is the hard of thinking.

The sphere speakers would at least look rather good alongside a 1960s style Eero Aarnio ball chair (as seen in The Prisoner)...

Well how about this...I held an image of these eggs on the screen of my laptop closer and closer to a Bush DAC90a and the sound quality instantly improved...cymbal crashes...drummers shuffling on their chair...the ticking of the watch on the wrist of the radio presenter...and so on....

I wonder about the propagation velocity of the effect. If you present one of these eggs close to some device and than remove it, what lag is there in the response? There could by great new physical discoveries waiting to be discovered.

I suspect that with some such doodads when you buy online and get a confirmed delivery date, the benefit starts ramping up even before the devices have arrived.

Aye, I saw those too Craig. The spiders and dust bunnies in my house would love those. The only way to clean such an arrangement of cables after 3 months in our house would be a nuclear strike.

Ah, Alton Towers and Chessington get into high end audio…, the Lego version would be interesting as the different colour bricks may yield a different sound…

On a more serious note to do with serious engineering, to celebrate being in business for 140 years, Thorens have launched an updated version of the Reference, also pictured in the show report linked above.

The original design was a no-holds-barred turntable in 1980 weighing 90kg, only 100 made. Price converted from DM to UKP in 1980, then doing an RPI, gets you to £25k - before 3 maximum arms and cartridges. That was thought to be outrageous price at the time. Prime examples sell now for £50k plus.

The new Reference is Euro 220k - again before arms (you can add three) plus cartridges.

Those amps look quite small by phool standards. To justify such cables you really want 200Kg amps that you can weld with.
