A problem with my D25 Goblin Teasmade. Please help!

For example, there is a bearing at each end of the motor shaft, and at each end of the gear wheel shafts (real clock people will probably use different terminology). Noise normally comes from something which is rotating quickly.

Go ahead with a proper service if you're reasonably confident though. It isn't especially difficult if you're prepared to put the effort in.

Hi - I have had and used a Goblin teasmade model D25 or D25B for years and it has worked perfectly until a few days ago.

I use the clock mostly without the brewing function as an alarm clock, but a few days ago the alarm function failed.

And the alarm time hand no longer remains where I set it and moves slowly round in a clockwise direction. There seems to be no "stop" any more when trying to set the alarm - and it doesn't buzz any more.

I tried opening up the mechanism but decided against opening up the clock mechanism itself without some professional guidance.

I live in Israel - I doubt if I could find any service here.

Anyone any thoughts?

Right. Looking at my article that brunel has posted, have a close look at the pin on the contrate wheel arbor (P4) and the curved clip (P6) and see if either of these seems to be missing or broken.

The alarm set knob should be fairly stiff; I suspect that over the years the curved clip has become too weak to hold the alarm set wheel stationary and is moving all the time the clock is going.

Thanks so much for your combined efforts. I have no doubt that I won't be able to get much further than taking the whole thing apart - but that would probably represent the sum total and would result in permanent loss of parts, additional damage and heart-ache.

Are there places where they still do this kind of repair? Where might I reasonably look?

A good traditional watchmaker could service the clock for you, if any still exist in Israel - there are very few left in Britain. Alternatively you could contact a local horology enthusiasts' group for help and advice.

These mechanisms aren't difficult to work on - much easier than a mechanical clock. You just need to be slow and methodical, making lots of notes as you work and storing any removed parts carefully. Take lots of photos with a digital camera.
