That's odd. I tick "Remember Me" when I log in so I never get signed out, and I came straight in every time today as normal.

Nothing has been changed or reset at the forum or hosting end. One of the oddities of the internet...!

It may be useful to say what browser and security/antivirus software you are using. If there is a common factor, it may be relevant.

John, have you inadvertently made a setting that is deleting the "cookie" holding your sign-in information?

Hi John,
Try closing Safari down, if you can’t do that restart the iPad, like most browsers if they are never closed they can get a bit confused. The iPad doesn’t normally close a task sorry app it just changes focus to the new one.
Probably need to log in again when you start it up again, hopefully that will solve it but make sure the ‘remember me’ box is ticked as Paul suggests.

I also wondered about the cookie issue. Browsers often have a 'clear cookies on closure' privacy setting for those who don't like accumulating such things. This means of course that the user loses the 'remember me' setting whenever the browser is shut down.

There is a manual option to clear cookies etc but I can’t find one that automatically clears them on exit.
Manually clearing the cache is another option worth trying though.

Firefox and a number of the more obscure browsers have such a setting. However I'm not familiar with iPad software.

Thank you all for your helpful replies. I followed your advice and reset the iPad and then signed in again ticking the remember me box. I have closed down the iPad and reopened and all is well. If I have any further problems I’ll let you know, once again thank you all for your help.

Just for clarification when you switch your computer or tablet off does this close you down or log you off from the Vintage forum?

No it doesn’t normally, I have just powered my iPad off and rebooted it and I am still logged in. Normally I don’t switch it of just close the cover which puts it into standby. The computer I occasionally switch on also remembers and keeps me logged in.

Only caveat to that is if the server is restarted, which is extremely rare, Paul has excellent up time for this server. Then if that were to occur you would need to log in again.

It does sound like a browser/cookie issue, maybe after a browser update. Is everyone affected using Safari on an iPad?

No problem with mine, running latest software, checked my phone which uses iOS 12.x , previous version and that’s ok.

It is possible that I pressed something I shouldn’t have the first time, but definitely not the second or third time? I note that Martin in post #2 had a problem.
