Making a new 9 pin plug for an AVO TESTER
Hello guys.
I was given by a kind member an (AVO Valve Tester) meter part only, so I have spent some hours in the workshop and made a temp 9pin plug to fit the socket, this was just to see if I could do it and to see if the meter part was working after a repair. I have put a socket on the end to fit in a 6v6gt valve and left A2/D1/D2 floating. Here are the results, and now I can go ahead and make up a valve holder box knowing its going to work. Plug 1 + 2 +3 + 4 and more pictures to follow off test. cheers gezza123 |

Re: Making a new 9 pin plug for an AVO TESTER
Because a valve tester biases a valve up to where it has appreciable gain, thee is a high risk of spurious oscillation with coupling between long connection wires.
If you're going to build your own socket panel to go with it, it's a good idea to use ferrite beads rather liberally to tame things. David

Hi David.
Thanks for your input, I will keep that in mind when I try to build one. Last edited by AC/HL; 9th Jun 2014 at 4:13 pm. Reason: Thread split |
