Philips 209u 15 dial lamp
The dial lamp in this set has been replaced with a 6.5 volt 300mA variety, it is supposed to have a type 8095D-99 which is a 25 volt 100mA.
With no chance of finding anything suitable, what ideas can be suggested please. The dropper is still as per spec and hasn't been changed to suit the 6.5volt lamp.

Re: Philips 209u 15 dial lamp
I've been here before with this set. Philips use rather strange ratings to generate replacement sales.
If you fit an MES lamp from an old commercial vehicle instrument panel rated at 24V 2.8W you should find it identical to the original. Philips would have chosen a high volume component for this application. This substitution also works for the little FM only Murphy sets (U502?) which uses 2 of these. Leon. |

Many thanks Leon,
I wouldn't have thought of that idea.

Re: Philips 209u 15 dial lamp
28V 100mA (2.8W) MES dial bulbs are widely available and will do fine.
