7ABP-33A tube
Hi all I have been looking for information on a GEC 7ABP33A CRT. I have bought a couple from a well nown supplier these are new 7"jobbies.
I was hoping to use one for my flying-spot scanner project but I need to know the base connections and data to proceed. They are very well made CRTs not the domestic grade of tube . Thanks Danny Last edited by Mike Phelan; 1st Jun 2007 at 8:06 pm. Reason: Readability |

Re: 7abp33a Tube
Hi Danny and erlytv,
p33 phosphor is orange very long persistence. For a flying spot scanner you need a p15 or p16 phosphor or something very short. I think P7 is a mixture of p33 and p16. Your tube is good for sstv because you need no orange filter like it is usefull at p7 for sstv use. Kind regards Darius |

Re: 7abp33a Tube
I used a 7BP7 long persistance tube for SSTV years ago for both receiving and as a flying spot scanner. The blue emission is at least an order of magnitude brighter than the yellow afterglow so in practice it works fine as a flying spot scanner.
The afterglow is only really visible in a darkened room and generally didn't last long enough to view a complete SSTV frame so I used a Polaroid 'scope camera to capture images! Hope this helps! Martin |
