Default Changing Voltage from 110 Volts to 220 Volts on a Tandberg 2075 Receiver

Hello,

I have recently bought a gorgeous Tandberg TR 2075 Receiver from Canada. Unfortunately it operates on 110 Volts.

I have read that it's possible to change the voltage internally with this Receiver, but I can't find any instructions on how to do this anywhere on the web.

I would very much appreciate help and advice with this.

Thank you very much.

IF it's possible to change the voltage, it's a matter of connecting the mains transformer's primary windings in series rather than in parallel. There may be straps or links which you can reconfigure. Otherwise you'll need to unsolder and resolder wires.

Alternative you could use an external transformer of suitable rating.

Open it up and do a picture of the mains side of the transformer so we can see if it is possible.

The service manual is available here:

The mains transformer has indeed series or parallel connection possibility - see attached pic.

Remove the wires from 1-2 and 3-4 making sure to maintain the connection to the mains lead. Provide a new wire from 2-3.

As a side issue, the FM de-emphasis is likely to be set for North America (75uS) rather than Europe (50uS). There may be a switch or jumper on the circuit board to change this, but if you don't or can't change it, FM reception will sound dull and lacking in high treble.

If those aux mains outlets are marked as 120V in any way, it would be sensible to re-mark them as 240V. You never know who might end up with the set!

Or disconnect them.

That would be preferable in my view as they may be of marginal safety on 240 volts.

Does the op really mean 220V? I notice the upper transformer primary on the diagram has a tap - so this is probably for 220V operation - provided the primaries are wired in series.
