RCA AR87 Comms Receiver. (Actually an AR77).
Has any one any knowledge or information about the RCA AR87 RX.
Seen one advertised for sale, dont think Ive ever heard or it, or seen one  .I bet there's an expert out there, some were.  Ken G6HZG, VMARS.

Don't know, listed as a AR87 ? AR77 I think I have heard of.
The AR87 ? or what ever, looks nothing like a AR88. Its listed on a well known UK on line Auction site, under collectable Radios. Ken G6HZG

AR77, very similar, but the tuning dial looks a bit different.
Perhaps it is a AR77 and they have got the Model number wrong. Mystery probably solved. Ken G6HZG

It's an interesting set but not really an early version of the AR88 despite superficial similarities-a different beast altogether. The AR77 is much simpler in design and construction. There were never very many of them around as I recall.

It may be a false recollection but I think there are an AR77 and AR88 both on display at Bletchley Park, together with an HRO and coil packs, as examples of receivers used by the Y service.
