Thanks for the iso.
I've discovered that using "VLC media player" I don't even have to burn a physical disc. It will just play the iso like a DVD. VLC is available for Linux, Mac and Windows ( I'm using Linux ) |

Hello everyone,
This DVD that has the test cards on it, as it is an iso file how do I get it in a bootable dvd or even in dvd format so that it can be used via a dvd player. I tried downloading it but as it is an iso file it will not run or even play, from what threads that I have read it seems some have managed to use it. best wishes Ken |

use your dvd recording software to load an image then select the ISO and burn, it will record it as a playable DVD

That's fantastic Mike, thanks for your efforts! It's time I set up somewhere to resume my projects where the cats won't get in to harm's way. These test patterns will be very useful.

Mike, I have found some strips of 16mm film which were part of a telecine line up test loop years ago. These include two versions of Test Card 'C' including the 'colour' version. There are about 10 frames of each so 1 at least should be a good one. Are these of any use to you to scan? my scanner is good but not particularly high res. If you have the correct gear and can make use of them please let me know - before I lose them again!

Hi Nick.
That would be brilliant - I do have a slide scanner which will go up to a very high resolution so it'd be great to scan those in. I'll send you a PM. Thanks Nick. Kind regards. From Mike.

The DVD has been used to replace the custom Test Card C on one of my Aurorae with the correct TC-D with BBC-1 405 LINES .. the one I've wanted to use for ages but couldn't find a decent copy. The results are excellent. TC-J is currently in use on 625 as I'm still setting up my distribution system and don't yet have enough receivers for all the channels, the player turned its motor off after a short interval.
I wonder if it would be possible to include the IBA:CH4 card? I have fond memories from when Channel 4 first started, finding this on the dial, and later on using it to set up the contrast properly on my Citizen TC-53 as it had larger greyscale blocks. I don't think I have any VHS recordings of this any more. The colour-bar used by Five, being the last analogue channel, would also be good to have. I'm sure I could replicate the multipath and co-channel interference from the early days before Waltham started transmitting and make a recording for nostalgia purposes! I might actually have an off-air recording of this somewhere. I'd like to do this myself but unfortunately my main PC is out of order and Nero is on that machine. Brian |

Hi Brian.
I'm glad the test card disc is proving useful. I was thinking of including the ETP-1 test pattern on the next disc along with one or two other patterns Si watch this space. ![]() Thanks Brian. Kind regards. From Mike.

Great job, Don't ever recollect seeing those high frequency gratings so sharp when I was servicing this stuff for real!.

Thanks Mike!
That's awesome, who would have thought that watching test cards would become more interesting than what's actually on TV? Well here in Australia anyway... Thanks & belated happy new year Mark - Perth, Australia |

I'd love to get ahold of some high resolution png or bmp or even in a pinch max quality jpeg scans of some of those things, so I could use in the US.
I would just play them in my picture-playing Bluray player or for B&W use my HackRF to get 441@60i for my prewar US sets. I have a burned copy of the dvd but for some reason none of my players can get to the table of contents. Some of the tracks can be played by randomly pushing buttons, however, including ones unequivocally 405 lines. So I know the dvd itself is OK. Different players access different things. |

You might want to try an earlier version of the DVD? They work better for me in my player.
