Had a day out at the Kempton Park radio rally yesterday and scored a couple more Hackers for my collection:

An all black rexine Hunter RP38A serial 14972, grey speaker with gold magnet (no bolts)

A black Sovereign II RP25A serial 85351 silver 15 ohm Celestion speaker

The Hacker collection here continues to expand! An outing to Dorset art the weekend turned up a nice Sovereign III in a junk shop. Serial number 19623, fitted with what appears to be the standard black framed (Peerless) speaker, the only marking being a stamp stating it to be 4 Ohms.

Serial no -14359 with Goodmans 3 bolt speaker 15 ohms.

Just aquired an excellent blue Sovereign II RP25 - s/n 13580? (on turntable - the only number I can see)
Goodmans speaker, grey frame, zinc plate & colour passivate magnet cover held together with 3 round head brass screws, 15 ohm

Alan, the serial no. you've found on the turntable should also be embossed on the back of the aluminium chassis on which the tuning dial is mounted, clearly visible when you hinge the back open.

Hi Mark, I have a Hunter all black radio with a FANE speaker. It spent its life in my parents bedroom so I would imagine the speaker is original. here's a few photos.

Fane, one of the ones forgotten about in the Yorkshire audio triangle (forget the rhubarb)

It's surprising how many firms were close together:

Oh, and Ambassador in Brighouse

Fane made some affordable speakers which weren't exactly Goodmans, but were reasonable quality and definitely good value. I'm quite surprised to see one on a Hacker.

Thanks for those picturtes. Funnily enough, this set is already recorded in my Hacker Hunter survey. The Fane was replaced by a Goodmans quite early in the life of the Hunter, and then was replaced by the Elac unit...

Off the top of my head, this is the only Fane unit to be used by a Hacker. I have one somewhere, and it works well - I'm not sure the Goodmans is notably superior (although I didn't A-B test them at the time). The Elac was a significant upgrade, however. The best of all the units used by Hacker, IMHO...

Attended local car boot sale yesterday as i do every Sunday if weather permits and picked up a RP38 Hunter for £2.00.
Speaker is an ELAC black rexine case. interestingly there is a QC date stamp of 14 Apr 1970. Serial is 11473.
Stripped her down good clean and service and straightened dent in grille, aerial is complete and not bent.
Works fine, speaker delivers good sound with crisp bass with no distortion.
Also going to add to Hunter survey.
