Since the UA12, they have. Earlier ones had a "neutral" position on the speed change knob, which disengaged the idler, and you had to remember to turn the speed changer to "N" after listening.

I think the UA6 doesn't even have a "neutral" position at all, though the UA8 does.

Just wondered if anyone could put any dates to these decks? Especially curious about those early one from UA6-UA16.

UA8 circa 1958-9.
UA14 circa 1961.
UA16 circa 1964-65.
UA25 1965 -1968.

It's strange as have one of these in a Dansette Bermuda (Mk 1 design). The Bermuda originally came with UA14, UA16 but then why UA25? Big jump in numbering but not in years. Happy to be corrected.

The UA25 was a cheaper deck than the UA15/16 series and was really the successor to the UA14.
All the Dansette models which had previously used the UA14, ended up using the UA25 prior to being changed. These included the Bermuda, Conquest Auto, Monarch, Stereophonic A35 and Senator. All of these had used the UA15/16 decks as well just to cause confusion!
The Viva only ever used the UA25, as did the Trent stereophonic which replaced the A35.

I suppose the c-109 was in turn the successor to the UA25- 4 speeds, same plastic arm minus the turnover hole.

I suppose Ben the UA25 at least had a metal turntable but the c-109 went with a plastic one which always became marked when stored with mains cable laying on top. The auto drop record size application had became non automatic and had to be set manually. Not a fan of these late BSR decks but can just about live with the UA25.

Hi, anyone got any idea which model this is??

2 off installed in a Hurricane disco console, made by NJD sometime way back when....

They're belt drives, but the (plastic) platters are solid - ie there's no hole to get ny finger through to attach the drive belt to the motor spindle...

Any help?

You were meant to remove the platter, fit the belt to the rim on its underside and over a little hook.

You then replace the platter positioned so that the hook is lined-up with the motor pulley, and rotate clockwise. The motor pulley then grabs the belt from the hook, and hey presto, you're threaded up and ready to play! Takes a few tries sometimes though.

Horrid decks though IMHO!

Thanks so much for compiling all of this information on BSR's.
I thought I had a UA15 but the UA15 schematic shows the raising bracket that attaches the idler wheel arm assembly to the raising pillar to be partially above and partially below the chassis (or do you call it the deck?) The raising bracket for my turntable is all below the chassis.
So either it is a UA15 that at some time was altered or its not a UA15 but a different model. Any ideas?

Mystery solved. Found a Symphonic portable player with what I think is a UA14 but it has the same raising bracket assembly. So I just copied it and now I have two working UA somethings.
