Hi all.
My son just bought this of eBay.
The lady said it needs a belt.
New belt fitted. Swapped the motor for mine.
Still plays records slow.
I think the circuit board maybe the issue.
Does anyone know anything about them or where I might be able to get a second hand one.

The third picture shows the 45 and 33 adjustment controls. Turn each one in turn a tiny amount, test and adjust again as necessary.

Unless there’s some part of it missing, I can’t see that it will ever do anything.

Is it a switch or a pot? If a pot it has no track.

The wiper of the control on the track side looks like it's connected to the reference pin 5 of the motor control IC, speed selector switch.

It is clearly a rotary switch with a wiper which makes contact with the surrounding plated PCB tracks, similar to what you'd find on a multimeter range switch.

However, it only has one point of contact, I suspect there should actually be two sprung contacts 180 degrees apart so that the plated PCB track on the left is joined to one of the three on the right, depending on the position of the switch. Could this be the speed setting switch? If so, there is no point in messing with the speed setting pots for the time being.

Unless the OP has the means to fabricate a replacement switch contact, I think this may have to go back to the seller (if possible).

The switch must be connected to an external control. Does operating this control change the speed significantly?

No speed change. And have found the other half of that piece in the bottom of the unit.
Can you still get parts like that or even a secondhand board?

This era of BSR decks were always troublesome in this department. I’m sure you’ll be able to repair it though.

The only source of spares is likely to be another similar system. There were a lot made by companies like Amstrad and Solavox but most will have been thrown out 25 years ago or more. I still see them occasionally in charity shops which do house clearances.

You don't need to fabricate anything

I recently serviced a similar unit. You will find the centre bit is the common bit, it doesn't look like anything has broken off.

Does the speed change when you operate the switch?

If yes then fine adjustments are carried out by the two presets, if no there is a fault and you'll need a multimeter to check

If you look at the picture of your board that I've posted, the tab that's sticking out of the switch must be on either the 45 or 33 contacts indicated by the blue and red lines. The green line is the common bit.

The OP says that operating the switch doesn't change the speed. It would be useful to carry out continuity tests on the switch.

We don't yet have a picture of the broken off part.

Looks like one half of the wiper has broken off, revealing a thin plastic interface washer underneath, the broken off bit should also have a wiper tag looking at the wear pattern on the PCB switch contacts (RH side in the OP's photo)

What I would do is to throw away what’s left of the switch, and fit a miniature rotary switch in its place.

Hi all again.
Just a quick update
Managed to get the rpm switch to work now.
Fitted it back together.
Both rpm speeds are alot slower than they should be. Twiddled with the fine adjustments and no difference.
One thing I did notice is when you first move arm to start it off. For a split second it turns quicker before slowing down.
Any ideas or where to go next would be appreciated.

Using a small flatblade screwdriver, adjust the pots in the orange box on the picture until the speed is right. Ideally compare the record with a cd or mp3 playback of the same song.
