Been going through an FT-290 in prep for selling on. Its had the common problem (of being ready for a re cap) causing the agc to be very slow to kick in, and hence the S meter not working properly. There is info on the internet which describes a resistor being placed on the base of a transistor. I've done the mod and confirm it works. Info and details of where to put the resistor attached in case its of use to anyone
