Can anybody tell me the "going rate" for one of these? I really want one but will undoubtedly have to sell lots of the family silver to get one!!!

According to the above website about £170 +- exchange rate + customs handling charge.

Currently $265 including shipping to UK so at $1.55=£1 (ought to be feasible conversion rate at the moment) that's just over £170. Allow £30 to £40 for customs and charges. If you are visiting the US or have a friend going there Darryl is happy to drop ship a prepaid order to anywhere in the US.

Hi.
I had recently contacted Darryl about another converter, overall it usually works out cheaper from Gerry as you don't seem to have the customs/handling charge, I am not too sure how that works out though.
So in this case have ordered one from Gerry.

I have just put my order in. According to the Email Gerry has 15 Auroras and only 7 of us have come back to him. So if you do want one or an additional one there could be a few going spare at £165

Mine arrived yesterday, again I must re-iterate what a wonderful piece of engineering. I now have four here, although that is seven I have had through my hands.
In my mind you cannot have too many standards converters.

Buying one from Gerry is the cheapest and best option at the moment.

I would love to be able to afford more than one. If I could I would recreate the 405 line days from West Cornwall, with BBC1 on both ch's 1 and 2 and ITA (Westward) on ch 12. I would also provide suitable attenuation to make the BBC1 signals weaker than the all powerfull ITA signal on CH12 that we enjoyed from Caradon Hill.

I picked mine up from Gerry last week but have only just got back home with time to try it, first on my Sony 9-90UB but it suffered from a lot of picture disturbance which seemed to be caused by the sound, after a few experiments on different channels I tried an old Egen band 1 attenuator, at 18db reduction got an almost perfect picture apart from the awful lack of black level control exhibited by these small Sony’s. I then moved on to the Ferguson FR20 that I bought at RWB with the unconditional guarantee advertised by Mike. This also produced an excellent picture after it had warmed up. I am planning on recreating Xmas 1957 next Sunday using my small media player as the source and several old B&W clips including the 1957 Queens speech. Thanks Gerry and Darryl it looks like my first foray into 405 line for over 40 years should be fun.
