Philips N 2223
Line in recording No sound while recording through line in or external microphone. Recording is ok. But monitoring is not possible.

I took it to mean that when recording a signal source it can't be monitored by audible means by the machine.

Monitoring isn't normally possible with most mono cassette recorders. Philips recorders often used the same pins on their DIN connectors for both line input and line output.

Especially so on a simple cassette recorder like this. Sorry, monitoring is not possible with these....it never was.
