Problem with Aurora delivery

Hi.
I now have a problem with the delivery of my NTSC 405 line converter.
I checked the "track & confirm", from the usps web site and they said that they tried to deliver at 10.45am today, I was at home at that time as was my wife, no vans were outside and I just don't know what is going on.
Who delivers these items in the UK and who do I contact.
Help please

Sorry to hear of your problems.
Don't take much notice of what these characters say they have done. If they had really tried to deliver, they would almost certainly have left a card instructing you on how to arrange re-delivery. I have had a few such "phantom" deliveries !

How long since Darryl sent it? He and I decided that one of mine was lost. Until it turned up almost a month after posting. In the UK, Aurora deliveries have usually been by Parcelfarce, occasionally by Royal Mail.

If you're worried, email or PM Darryl who is definitely helpful.

I didn't realise the links between USPS and UK mail services were good enough to trace international deliveries. In any case was it 1045 BST or 1045 somewhere in the USA?

Sorry to hear about the problems with delivery Trevor. Let me know if I can do anything from this end. I have heard of this issue with the USPS web site show an attempted delivery when none was made, but the package shows up the next day. So much for the accuracy of a government agency web site!

So far only two units have gone missing for any undue length of time (the two mentioned above) and these were both sent via Priority mail. Despite what the name might infer, Priority mail provided useless tracking information and no insurance. On the package Bob referred to, I could not get any information on where the package was, finally chalking it up as a loss. Four months later the package shows up in my mail box with no explanation, covered with stickers. While I was glad to get it back in one piece, I no longer use Priority mail. Everything goes out now using Express mail (don't you just love these non-descript names) which is trackable and insured. Packages now get to the destination in 4-5 days, and take a few days through customs. (Portugal being the one exception that seems to hold packages in customs for weeks!)

Hi.
Ive contacted usps via e-mail and get the same responce so I will wait a few days and see what happens.
Its parcelforce this end and they are notorious for mistakes.
Ill keep you informed.

Sometimes lazy drivers at the carrier firms will mark them as "nobody there, card left" when they run out of time, can't find the place or otherwise can't be bothered. I guess it looks better for the driver than "couldn't find" or "not enough time".....

City Link are one of the worst for that in this area, but fortunately they are not involved in this case.

I will rename this thread "Problem with Aurora delivery" since we are talking about a single problem and not a problem affecting deliveries generally.

Thanks Paul for the reply. Some more news is that I have tracked the parcel on the Parcelforce web site and opted for delivery on Thursday a day we will be both here so there should be no excuces, watch this space!

This may be a daft question but how were you notified of the customs duty? Most carriers require payment in advance and will not accept payment at the point of delivery.

yes both my sets were only delivered after I payed the duty by phone . I was able to follow the movement of the first one very well but the second one i wasnt for some reason

there is some good news , my second converter arrived today and I only ordered it on the 31th of July
I paid the tax and V A T online yesterday
all I need now is a dyplexer to join the band 1 (1) and band 3 (9) onto one cable
so far so good

Hi.
I received a 1571 message today from parcelforce and I payed them £41.00 charges for customs, just as I came in from work to-night over the phone.
I will have the converter tomorrow (Thursday).

I had to pay £23 45 tax and £13 50 parcel force clearance fee
total of 36 95
I payed it on the card yesterday and parcel arrived today

Hi gang,

Crowthorme tubes has a small stock of Aurora's Aurorii? minus the import duty,i was down there last week and Gerry mentioned he had some in stock and is prepared to bring back more if sufficient interest,he can be contacted through his website,i have no interest in the firm other than as a customer.
I have always found Gerry to be very friendly and helpful often going out of his way to find that elusive part.......

hi.
The Aurora arrived safely early this morning.
I am very well pleased with it. The NTSC burst and chroma are spot on so I will need to crack on with obtaining a decent (valve) dual standard colour set to convert, hopefully a GEC 2028.
The results on a mono set are excellent with resolution that seems to exceed the mono standards converter, the dot pattern is noticable but to a much lesser degree than a 625 mono set.
