Default Hitachi VCR with built-in slots game

Hi. I was given a 1993-94 Hitachi VT-M328E VHS machine for free and it works great. I am creating this thread because I noticed something very unusual to me. The VCR's on-screen menu appears to have a slots game under the "GAME MODE" option. Has anyone else ever seen something like this on different models?

My parents 1990s Panasonic TV had a built in calculator & calendar, but I've never seen a games mode before.

Very unusual, I have a Humax Freeview box that has games, but never seen games on a VCR.

I remember once seeing a cheap Pacific branded 14'' combi TV and DVD player that had a game mode, which was of a classic Tetris style brick game. If the TV had poor reception you could faintly make out in the background of the picture the demo mode of the game playing. A bit like screen burn but it wasn't. Think the set was sold by Asda.

I have never seen games on a vcr either.

I see its a multi-standard model Pal/Secam b/g/d/k/i so its main market was probably the middle or far east. I suspect it would also have been more expensive than a normal model, so was probably included to add value.

Mark in post#4 mentions a Humax box with games. The 9150/9300 had this feature, but it only appeared on the menu if the hard drive had failed. Nice to have a machine do the diagnosis for you - if the menu includes games you need a new hard drive!

Yes. It's a indeed multi system/standard machine and that's why I'll keep it. SECAM tapes play back perfectly on this one.

My Icecrypt freeview box has Tetris, Snake, and Othello. I did try them when we first got it but I had completely forgotten about them until I saw this thread.

I remember a TV in a hotel in Kosovo which had a built in Tetris-type game. That was odd. It seemed to be a run-of-the-mill 14" CRT TV otherwise.

I think the last generation CRT chassis from Finlux had games as well. In any case, some Medion TV sets sold by Aldi had them and I think this was at the time Medion bought up stock from Finlux instead of buying from Beko as they normally did.

The only game I ever experienced with a VCR was attempting to explain to the customer how to set the timer. J.
