Re: Sanyo VTC5150 - unstable picture on loop through
Trevor, apologies for this but as a complete amateur, would the RF modulator be the same as the ‘RF Convertor’ as described in the 5150 Service Manual?
Thanks. Philip |

Re: Sanyo VTC5150 - unstable picture on loop through
Hello Philip I know you asked Trevor the question but I am very sure the answer is yes and on the VTC5000 I am sure they sometimes go faulty but have a look they are easy enough to swap between the 2 machines and could be the cause of the fault you describe regards David

Re: Sanyo VTC5150 - unstable picture on loop through
David, thanks for that. The bracket holding the converter is just held by two screws, but it looks as though the series of 8 pins needs to be unsoldered, or can that small circuit board be eased off those pins?
Thanks. Philip |

Re: Sanyo VTC5150 - unstable picture on loop through
Trevor/David, if the RF Convertor on the bottom board is the correct item referred to, I’ve already swapped the complete bottom board from the original machine with no issue, so a problem with that part can be ruled out, yes?
Video head drums hopefully getting swapped over tomorrow, and will update. Philip |

Hi.
Can you upload a picture of the issue? Thanks for letting us know its not modulator related.

Re: Sanyo VTC5150 - unstable picture on loop through
Graham/David/Trevor,
Video head drum assemblies were swapped yesterday and 5150 powered up today for testing. Initially, picture produced was ghosting badly horizontally, mis-tracking, and audio was ‘fast’. Armed with Service Manual, hope, and ignorance, started by adjusting VR4005 and VR4010 on board SV-1, then VR4004, which cured the picture of those faults, but the image was still showing a ripple effect as per the original issue. Then, with a combination of adjusting VR’s 4001-4003, this did the trick. Picture is now as it should be, both with HDD on standby and powered on. Presumably, adjusting those 3 VR’s on other machine, may have negated the need for the drum swap... If I have wasted anyone’s time with this, I apologise, but you folks are the experts, not me. Will leave the thread open for a day or two for anyone wishing to give me a telling off! Philip |
