What is this belt?
I came across this belt amongst my stuff. I reckon it's a loading belt off a Sony Betamax video machine. Can anyone confirm and/or be more specific re model?

Re: What is this belt?
Didn't the Panasonic K-decks use something similar?

Re: What is this belt?
I'm going on sets that I have owned. I never collected VHS decks apart from a couple of Ferguson 3V23s.

Re: What is this belt?
I think I've only ever had to replace one of those belts. They are found in Sony Betas and Panny G decks.
A toothed belt seems like a good idea in quite a few applications such as carriage loading, where a simple flat belt tends to slacken and lose grip after only a few years. A pity more manufacturers did not use them given how well they seem to have fared. I hope that in a few years' time we don't end up with piles of basket case VCRS when they all turn to goo or disintegrate or something!

Re: What is this belt?
If they're some sort of polyurethane, like the similarly coloured gears, they might disintegrate. Don't store your set under damp conditions.
