Default Wanted 21.5" x 16.5" HP Equipment lid

I'm in need of a lid to keep the cat out of an HP3563A dynamic signal analyser! It's a typical HP rack mount equipment lid, but the longer type at around 21.5". Similar lids were used on 3562A, 3577A, 3585A, 8672A but it's longer than that on the sig gens 8662A/8663A.

It's a very simple lid with folded shallow lips left and right and a folder over edge at the back. But without a folding brake it is difficult to replicate.

I accept I'll probably have to buy another piece of HP equipment to get one, but most of the ones I can think of that use this lid would tempt me to fix them and they are all large and heavy.

No I have no idea how the original owner managed to lose the lid!

How about some thin Al angle strips. B&Q and others stock them

That's called the HP "System 2" cabinet series.

Lids came in full, half and third rack widths. Each width came in several lengths. Then there were later colours of vinyl textured covering. What was affectionately known as Duck *** green to the point where I can't remember the official name came first, then it went grey-ish.

If you can find a longe one, it could be cut shorter. The edges have to be accurate to slide into the grooves in the trims of the side covers (RFI shielding)

Beware of jack screws in lids with their pozi heads stripped, they're rather soft.

I'm glad they were standardised! When I looked in the manual for the 3562A I found different part numbers for "English" and non-English e.g. 5062-3736 (current - metric), 5061-9436 (previous - metric) and 5060-9836 (previous - English). But generally part numbers for these "mundane" parts don't help that much in locating one!

Possibly it was removed for a repair that was never completed and lost.
Or as I've found with several items that were rack mounted, the top, bottom and/or side panel covers were left off and lost.

I suspect David is right and it was in a rack, and it means it is more accessible for service. They way things are going I'm going to need a rack as I seem to almost have a 3048 (minus the ancient computer)! Now I need HPIB cables - thinking sadly of all the ones I must have got rid of with a very ancient HP9000/835 from the days when HP considered HPIB an ideal disk drive connection bus for a unix server.

A lid has been found (off a long lost 8642 based on the information inside the cover) so the cat is safe (and the digital hash will hopefully stay inside) so this thread can be closed!

You could try rubbing the units case with orange peel, or similar, to deter the cat!
