The yellow, polypropylene ones made by LCR or Vishay/Roederstein are what you need, ideally.

Past Times Radio do them, where they're in the table classified as "PP": http://www.pasttimesradio.co.uk/spares/spares.html

You can also buy them from Farnell, but you need to spend quite a bit to qualify for free postage. Search for "MKT1813" which is VR's code for their axial polypropylene range: http://uk.farnell.com/jsp/search/bro...questid=563462

I too have used Justradios several times and they are very good. Another option is Savoy hill, again very good service and they do a range of cheaper caps which are excellent value. http://www.savoy-hill.co.uk/index.htm

Hi Alan. I am restoring a Murphy A574 radio, like yourself. I recommend that you replace all wax paper capacitors, hunts "mouldseal" (little brown/black capacitors), and the colour banded ones. The resistors seemed to be in not too bad condition, unlike some radios that I have worked on in the past.
All that I need to do now is to respray the escutcheon on the cabinet front, as it was a bit "tatty" in appearance. The final paint will be either in brown or gold. The grille cloth on my example needed renewing.
Good luck with your project. Hope that you can get a replacement EM85 T.I, assuming it needs replacing?
Cheers
Mike

I have had the set running while my workshop (read garage)! and it sounds well. When tuning the set I have found that the 'ears' of the tuning indicator actually come completely together once tuned to a strong station, however after its been running for over 1/2 hour it seems to lose sensitivity which can be experienced by moving about the workshop or even moving my arms in the visinity of the set.
This shows itself as the indicator arms going apart and the sound level reducing.
Any ideas where to start looking?
