Panasonic SG-6000
I have a NOS Panasonic SG-6000. When I powered it up for the first it made a juddering noise around the cassette area and nothing else will play. The cassette doesn't work either. I have turned it off and back on again but nothing has changed. Is there an obvious solution?

Re: Panasonic SG-6000
More than likely the belts would have failed and require replacing.

Re: Panasonic SG-6000
Yup, the drive belts have probably turned to jelly and the juddering sound was the capstan belt wrapping itself around the motor pulley. A strip-down and clear out probably in order, followed by a new set of belts.

Re: Panasonic SG-6000
Thanks. Yes you're right removing the belt has stopped the juddering but the cassette controls permanently stay on play. This overrides all the other functions on the unit. So I can get the record player to function but when I press the button on the front it does not light up and no sound comes from the speakers. Im happy for the cassette not to work as I only want it for the deck. I have the manual but it's not got any info about the electronic functions.
