Re: Pathe-Marconi 819 line TV set
Hello,
I'm very happy to see this will live again . The Aurora is really very practical to make old televisions work with their own standard. A picture of one 819 lines I restored with new capacities which work with the Aurora. Sincerely all wilfrid Last edited by Mike Phelan; 25th Jun 2007 at 4:43 pm. Reason: Tidy-up for archive |

Re: Pathe-Marconi 819 line TV set
Bonjour Wilfrid,
Very well done on your restoration! Nice to see all old sets running again. When you get a chance, it would be nice to have a close up photo of the screen showing just how good the picture can be on these sets. Can you see the line structure at all, or are the lines not visible because of the sheer number of lines and size of screen? Regards Tim |

thank you I offer that television to Fernseh and my digital camera is not very performant but I must finish to restore if I have time enought an old Teleavia of 1957 this summer.I will post detail picture of the screen witch is larger.Even if the aurora works well it doesn't restitute a real 819line definition, that's why I want to convert an old vidicon video camera to work in real 819 line.I hope you understand what I say my english is not very good. I join larger screen picture of philips that I was take few month ago and the famous teleavia P111 of 1957 Sincerely as all wilfrid Last edited by wiwior; 14th Apr 2006 at 9:05 am. |

The problem is to find a vidicon that makes this resolution. A 1/2'' is not able to do this I think. My Sony AVC 3250 is on 405 better than on 625. This depends in the amp after the target too. I am sure on 819 it will be bad, but I did not try this. Look what happenes to 819 vhs recordings. Maybe this is one reason why this standard did not survive!? Kind regards Darius |

I doubt that any ordinary vidicon camera will give full 819 line resolution. Even the very best plumbicon cameras used by broadcasters struggled to utilise the full resolution of 625 line systems. The Aurora converter is likley to give better pictures than any camera you will find. The ideal method would be to start with a modern high definition picture. The active picture is either 1920x1080 or 1440x720. All we need is for Darryl to design a high resolution Aurora In the days when 819 was broadcast in France I doubt that any transmissions fully utilised the exceptional bandwidth and definition that is theoretically possible in the 819 line system |
