Mixed feelings as it was a valuable item but it had been offered on the open market (thus establishing its value at that time) - now I'm not into defrauding individuals, but if it's in a junk shop at a fixed price, or on ebay as here, then fair enough I feel.

Someone else might have seen the TV show 'Pawn Stars' which is about an American store and the items that get offered to them to buy.

Someone brought in Enigma machine and was offered $75K for it, but the owner wanted $150K for it IIRC.

The provenance being that it was in the film 'Enigma'

The show offered a potted history of how clever the Enigma machine was.
