Need help to Identify Blauplunkt Automobile Radio
I have a Blauplunkt radio from a 1967 car. Radio may be older or newer who knows? Someone scraped off the ID tag. I wonder why.
I need to ID it adequately to order schematics to start repair. It appears to be a Frankfurt on Kolon of unknown date. 4-Band with band indicator above the buttons 5-button Separate amplifier section. Mono Speaker plugs (3) are in V pattern. Voltage & Ground switching by Bakelite strips inserted into the Amp section. 2 DIN connectors on back of tuner section, 1 with cap containing a jumper Station Knob appears to be a push inwards 7 Appears to have a small electric motor behind the tuning knob for auto station tuning? Inside tuner there is a yellow handle to remove a circuit board Photos are attached |

67 sounds about right. It's a radio for the European market (it has LW, and the FM only goes up to 104MHz). This would have been an expensive option when new.
Sorry, but I can't provide a model number, not being a Blaupunkt expert. |

Maybe this one?
https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/blaupunkt_koeln_2.html The rear view looks pretty much identical.

Re: Need help to Identify Blauplunkt Automobile Radio
Your set looks like a Koln (should be 2 dots over the "o") and is probably series Z. The Blaupunkt car radios were named after German cities.
The series letter is important as the sets differed quite a bit as the designs progressed. The detail would have been on a paper label on the RF chassis, by the DIN connectors. For info: series X = 66/67; Y = 67/68; Z = 68/69; A = 69/70 etc. The circuits are available online, but change the selenium bias diode (X 650 on the circuit) for the output stage to either 2 Si diodes in series, or 1 Si diode + 1 Schottky diode and reset the quiescent current as per the instructions. Destructive runaway can occur if the Se diode is left in circuit. If you make a Forum search, there is some data on this amplifier unit. Leon. |

When on the radiomuseum.org site and I click on the download button it wants to download some software on to the computer.
This looks like someone is trying to hack my computer. Is this normal and is this site safe? Fred |

Re: Need help to Identify Blauplunkt Automobile Radio
Leon,
Yes it would have been nice if someone had not removed the label. I have not been able to find anything helpful from a search on this site. I was only able to get something about how to use the Aux input DIN receptacle on an Italian site. The only Koln schematics I was able to locate were with he single DIN receptacle. And on that site the model was listed as Koln with no model number listed. On eBay sites I have seen photos of the model for sale but no mention or photo is given of the model # or the serial # so I'm only 1/2 way identifying this critter. As I mentioned earlier the radiomuseum.org site which I landed on looked like a hackers trap, not sure if it was the correct site? Fred |

When obtaining service info from RM as a quest you'll be asked for your email address etc. so the info can be emailed to you. If you click the link in post #3 that'll take you to the correct site. They're definitely not hackers.

Re: Need help to Identify Blauplunkt Automobile Radio
How unusually complicated! The 'Selectomat' automatic tuning looks to be the forerunner of the ubiquitous 'search' tuning of all modern car radios. I presume a search was initiated by a press on the tuning knob
