Oscilloscope Gould 4074 - TMS Fail
First, thanks to WME_bill & Wellington about my first request.
I managed to fix my first oscilloscope Gould 4074. -> capacitance problem on the channel (same breakdown as attersee) + CCD Card out of order. Now it is in perfect working order !! Now, I troubleshoot my second oscilloscope Gould : -> No trace and the digital display on the front panel (Auto-Test at start-up) displays: : TMS Fail I know it comes from the Display card (by exchange with my other oscillo). All other cards are good & power is OK. So, does anyone have an indication of what that means ? An indication to troubleshoot ? Regards, |

Perhaps the coprocessor is dead
. Around the TMS is some handshake logic. If you are lucky there is only a dead flipflop or opamp. Other answers: TMS-RAM and the buffer between main processor and coprocessor. If you need spare parts perhaps I can help you. Up to now I own eight 40xx in different conditions... If the TMS is dead you are lucky it's one without internal ROM, so any TMS35010 can be used as a replacement. |

Re: Oscilloscope Gould 4074 - TMS Fail
Hello Noopy2014,
Thank you for the answer. So, about the coprocessor, this must be the GE397 (PLCC 68 DIP IC). His reference is GE 397 - 00455615 - I388 I found no information about this IC ... (have you information ?) -> But he's good. Tested on my other oscilloscope. For the TMS, I did not think it indicated the IC TMS320C10NL... Intelligent the machine ! -> Tested -> OK So, currently, I test the 74xx one by one, priority around the TMS (desoldering -> support IC -> soldering and testing) For the spare parts proposal, this might interest me, for my third 4074. And, do you have the manuals (user & service)? Regards, |

Re: Oscilloscope Gould 4074 - TMS Fail
Hello MacCinv,
the TMS320 is the coprocessor! The PLCC is a gatearray that controls the datatransfer from the acquisition-RAM to the display-RAM. You can get a very good copy of the servicemanual from wme_bill. Just search for him. That will help a lot! Greets |
