Default kb radio battery query

hello all,
have just bought a KB starlight rhapsody early sixties transistor set but i am not too sure of the correct voltage batteries to try it out. this one seems to have been fitted with a couple of not very original looking connectors that look as if they should be for 2 PP9s but i seem to remember there were also 6 volt batteries with the same fitting at one time ? so i just wondered if someone could tell me what should be in it?
many thanks.
steve

Hi Steve,

The 6 volt PP1 did indeed use the same connectors as the PP9, but I'm not aware of any Rhapsody model having used it. Early transistor versions took a single PP11, 4.5+4.5volt, but the Starlight Rhapsodies I've seen all use two PP9s, and the space provided is just enough for two to sit end to end. The photo shows a label still adhering to the inside back of one of my sets.

Regards,
Paul
