Default Bush TR130D

Does any one know what the "difference in presentation" is between the TR130 & the TR130D.
Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike,

Dazzlevision may be able to help here - https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...90&postcount=4 . That's the only mention of an existing TR130D I can recall seeing anywhere..

Hi Paul
I have contacted dazzelvision and he can't remember a lot about the actual radio. But he is looking to see if there is anything in his Bush service manual. (the version of the Bush manual I have (Pauls CD) only seems to cover the 208 preset version.)

Mike

Hello,

The original TR130 Bush service manual (ref. TP1630), with a 208 button, has only a very brief description of the "presentation" (i.e. cosmetic appearance). However, the Bush service manual (TP1664) for the later TR130 and the TR130D is more detailed:

Both versions have the Bandspread button in lieu of the 208 (Luxembourg) button.

TR130 - tan coloured cabinet; TR130D finished in black.

The cabinets are covered in plastic material with chrome trim. The loudspeaker grille is finished in white and enclosed in a chrome bezel. The top of the case, formed by a chrome die-casting, encloses the tuning scale which is covered with a convex scale lens in clear plastic. Located at the top of the cabinet are the three edge-operated control knobs and waveband buttons. A soft flexible full-width carrying handle is fitted to the cabinet.

Regards,

Dazzlevision

Hello Happytiger
Did it have a label identifying it as a TR130D. I would be pleased to see any photos you may still have.
Thanks
Mike

I've just looked at a 60s Bush Portable I have, but it's the later TR230 in a tan cabinet with Chrome Grille. The 'extra' button on these is set to 247M (1214kHz) for Radio 1, so would presumably, with a slight 'tweak', pick up Absolute R. on 1215Khz.

Hi
Those frequencies are so close, I am surprised it is not picking up Absolute already.

On my Black and chrome TR230 the Radio 1 247 button is spot on for Absolute with no adjustment required.
On the TR130D does the station markings show as BBC1, BBC2 BBC3 or Light and Third?

I haven't actually tried to listen to Absolute Radio on the TR230, which, btw, is marked .BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, BBC4, plus 'North', 'Scot', etc., as I'd expect it to be, since it must date from 1967 or later.

I seem to remember that there was a version with bandspread for Radio Caroline or am I dreaming?

My TR130 has Caroline as well as Third West and Luxembourg marked up on the bandspread dial, making it a pre 1967 model. Apparently the government of the day were not to pleased with Rank and GEC for showing Radio Caroline on the dial.
