Username length?
While reading the updated rules I noticed that usernames must consist of at least seven characters. I don't know what the old rules said, if this is a new requirement or if I have been illegally named for a long time There are a few other members with short names as well.
Do we have to change our names or does this apply only to new members? |

Re: Username length
I think it only applies to new members.
This wasn't introduced in the rules rewrite - I carried it over from the previous version, and have no idea if it's an absolute system restriction. |

Re: Username length?
Yes, it's for new registrations, and is a system restriction. It was set that way ages ago to try to stop people using just amateur radio callsigns.
Existing shorter usernames are fine, as are username change requests to shorter names (the mod team can change usernames without the length restrictions). |

Re: Username length?
I registered in May 2011 and hit that restriction. Could it be changed, Mooly01 to Mooly.
