Default 1500 sticky tuner

Hi All,
Ref recent Alba thread, pic attached of the rear of the tuner - at the bottom can hopefully be seen the latching bar on hinges.
I've noticed the odd mention on here of lubricating the mechanism, but does it have to come out of the cabinet for this, and then.... ?
Advise appreciated.
Thanks
JM

Unfortunately this is becoming a common problem now that these sets are some 50 years old, shame on Thorn for producing such a shoddy item .

Fortunately although the plastic part is no longer available a reliable repair is possible. All you need to know is here.

This is how I do mine . Temporary hold the washers in place With a screw and then solder them on the square shaft. Next file a flat on the washer and with a bit of tweaking job done . I find 9 out of 10 times they don’t want re greasing
