Default Dymar 2065 distortion meter.

I have just about completed the restoration of one of these.

When it arrived the phase balance pot was missing. It did not take me long to wor out the a 5k pot worked. Now that the meter is in full working order I have come to the conclusion that this pot was a dual concentric for course and fine adjustments.

Does anyone have a schematic to confirm this and what the values were. Even better still if anyone has a scrap meter so I could buy the part.

Thanks

Al

Here the schematic for the Dymar PSU

I'm searching for any future info about Dymar equipment.

Hi Peter

That power supply schematic is much more complex than the one on my 2065. I think your equipment must be different to mine.

Peter

As requested, here are some more pictures of my 2065.

The next time you take the covers off yours can you tell me the values of the coarse and fine phase balance potentiometers. I know that mine works with 5k ohms as the coarse control. Even if yours has a different value I can still work out what percentage of the range the fine control gives.

Thanks

Al

Hi Peter,

Your meter is a ex Redifon/Redifusion Radio Systems unit. I recognise the cal labels. The 106/11 label is an asset number used in Redifon, 106 denotes a distortion meter, the 11 indiacates your unit is the 11th distortion meter in the system.

The cal label tells me the unit was calibrated by Ian Walker in 1993 at Redifion SPT in Crawley. At some point post 1994 your meter would have been disposed by Redifon.

I believe Dymar were taken over by Farnell Instruments.

Roland,
Dymar was founded in 1964, Burndept took over Dymar in the early 80s. They were based in Watford. Burndept became FKI Burndept and they had a place in Bolton because they had the contract for Bolton Police. Burndept moved out of Erith some years ago to Thamesmead and became part of Signature Industries, the only RF type stuff they do now is SARBE type equipment where they are one of the major players.

My meter is part of a design family with 2 modules, PSU + Meter and Measuring part, like
Dymar 0711 - VHF Millvoltmeter
Dymar 0741 - Audio Signal Generator
Dymar 1765 - Distortion Factor Meter
Dymar 1771 - AF Wave Analyser
Dymar 1785 - Modulation Meter AM-FM

Interesting is the way, the meter was going till dumped on my bench ;-)

A long time after this thread was closed I did acquire a copy of the combined user and service manual. For anyone that needs a copy it is attached here.
