Help identifying a valve
I have a Marconiphone record player that needs a new valve . The old one wasn’t fastened properly and was damaged rattling around in the case.
I can’t read the valve number it could be UL 84 but will some one be able to tell me please ? |

Almost bound to be a UL84.
Compare yours to the picture on this link. http://www.r-type.org/exhib/aai0038.htm

Re: Help identifying a valve
If that's the only valve (other than perhaps a rectifier) then it means that the record player relies on a high output cartridge. These tend to degrade with time and good replacements are getting difficult to find.... meaning that if you're having problems, it isn't necessarily the valve.
