Not a recommendation but it's cheap enough to take a gamble. |

If you have an old video recorder knocking about, these can be used as a modulator.

The Humax 9200T has a "VCR (DVD)" input and a tuneable UHF modulator which can be used for either its internal tuner or the VCR/DVD input.

You can often remove the modulator from a scrap VCR and fit it into a smaller more convenient box, using a spare wall wart to provide power.

Does Macrovision cause problems with modulators?
There are also a few Panasonic DVD recorders which have RF outputs (not just loopthrough). They were about £200 new a decade ago, but are now available for a few pounds secondhand, though you'd need to check online before parting with any money. N. |

Re: DVD to analogue TV aerial input - which modulator please?
I've personally never had any problems, and I have watched lots of DVDs through a modulator on my sitting room TV.
I've actually got a few modulators, and surprisingly, I find this fairly cheap one gives the best picture: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mercury-350-...cury+modulator It also has a more user friendly digital display and buttons. |

Re: DVD to analogue TV aerial input - which modulator please?
I managed to obtain a tunable modulator with audio and video inputs and RF pass-through, that was originally meant as part of a home CCTV system (multiple cameras could be connected to the same VCR or TV set, each via a modulator tuned to a different frequency unused by any TV station; and any one selected using the normal station presets). All I had to do was wire it up to a disused mobile phone charger as a power supply (there was already a voltage regulator on board) and add a couple of phono plugs for audio and video in.

Re: DVD to analogue TV aerial input - which modulator please?
I use a philips VCR/DVD combo machine that outputs both formats through the aerial output. I am not sure but I believe most of these combos do that, at least the older ones.

I bought one of these ten or so years ago and it served well for a while. It's now gathering dust in the loft:
