Default Eee psu

I have a little 30V 1A power supply that I have been using for many years but I'm intrigued as to who made it. It does have a home made look to the interior. It is Serial Number 15

Whoever made it they look to have been heavily influenced by Farnell.

Steve.

Looks decidedly like a Coutant with a bit of make-over re-branding to me.

I'm guessing that this is a well made homebrew PSU from a university or college lab - E E E on the shield = Electrical and Electronic Engineering? The low serial number on the front is also a clue, as is the lack of additional labelling on the meter compared to Coutant PSUs of the 1970/80 era from which it may have been inspired?

Training departments in firms often had fresh graduates or students or apprentices make things to show them the ropes and the in-house processes. Local designs sometimes but mostly magazine projects. Occasionally a copy of a commercial product so the costing can be compared to the street price.

The issue with a local project is coming up with a good design in the first place. The issue with magazine projects is in screening out the rubbish ones. And for 'copies' you really don't want a lawsuit.
