Default G7DES mic pre-amp

Anyone who knows or knew Geoff, G7DES?

The image shows a little pre-amp that's come my way - I don't know how or why or when. It has input for mic, a PTT input, space for a LED and for no known reason one of its 2 transistors is unsoldered and the other has never been fitted.

Is this a known design? Anyone else use one? - or need one?
