Speed selector not moving
Hi, I have a Dynatron Mazurka with a Garrard turntable, recently recovered from the attic.
The speed selector won't move, it's stuck at 45. The other speeds are 16, 33 and 78, the selector is on the right. What can I do? Imelda. |

Re: Speed selector not moving
Hi Imelda, and welcome.
This is one of the most common problems with long dormant record changer mechanisms. If you type "grease" in the search box above you will find many related threads. Basically, the mechanism needs dismantling, old hardened grease cleaning off, and replacing (but only where you find it, strictly nowhere else) Don't try to force it, it will cause more problems. |

Re: Speed selector not moving
I've taken it apart and no grease is there, it appears to be jammed by a piece of metal protruding as if through a keyhole. I have a picture but not sure how to post it?

Re: Speed selector not moving
That is its normal mechanism as I said the problem is not where you think it is. Best to remove the turntable, then you will be able to follow the levers.
Examine everything and check everything is free to move . The idler wheel sits on a lever which itself goes up and down on a shaft when the speed lever is moved . I expect it is stuck on its shaft Last edited by peter_sol; 29th Apr 2016 at 4:08 pm. |

Re: Speed selector not moving
With the turntable off, and the control lever at OFF/STOP, your should easily be able to change the speed slider control and see the rubber idler wheel moving up and down very close to the stepped pulley that comes up from the motor. Then switch to ON and the rubber idler wheel should touch that spindle. If it's doing all that, its OK. Make sure the inner turntable rim is not sticky, switch to OFF and replace. These a very reliable units. Edward
