NVCF - 6th November 2011 - new event.
Hello everyone,
It is now time to announce that there will be a second NVCF this year. The "British Vintage Wireless and Television Museum" in partnership with the BVWS will be staging a massive Vintage Television display combined with an NVCF at Alexandra Palace london on the 13th November 2011. There will be up to 400 stalls together with all of the usual event features for both BVWS members and non members, although Members will get various discounts. The original 1936 BBC Television studios will be opened up for guided tours specifically for those who attend the event. This is a "ONE OFF" show to celebrate 75 years of the British Public Electronic high definition Television Service. Much more info to come soon... See you all at the NVCF tomorrow. Mike...

Re: NVCF - November 2011 - new event.
That certainly sounds VERY tempting, though I dread to think of my "carbon footprint" (not to mention petrol bill) if I attend that followed by Golborne the following Sunday and Wootton Bassett a couple of weeks after that.

Re: NVCF - November 2011 - new event.
Sounds very tempting I will certainly make a big effort to attend.
I have never been there before and sounds like a very good day out. Can you drive and park there or would you need to park elsewhere? (just in case (or more likely I will!!) buy something heavy ) i look forward to more information on the event. Christopher Capener

Re: NVCF - November 2011 - new event.
There is free public parking. It's a number of smaller car parks scattered around the grounds and could easily get a bit crowded. I've always found a space somewhere when I've visited.

Re: NVCF - November 2011 - new event.
Hi, I've just checked nvcf.org.uk but there's no mention of the event, where can I find out more details?
Will the studio tours be open to all, or just BVWS members (plus guest), as I understand these areas are not open to the general public? Rob.

Re: NVCF - November 2011 - new event.
The date is now 6th November, not 13th as previously mentioned. This was very late news, you may have noticed a "6th" sticker over the date on the inside front cover of the latest BVWS Bulletin.
As Mike Barker stated in the OP, the BBC studios will be open on the day. No idea what the exact arrangements will be yet. In the past the numbers have been limited to about 12 per group due to fire regs. We can only hope that a way will be found to relax this for the occasion. Perhaps also some kind of timed ticket system to avoid queueing. |
