Default Pete Roberts Components

Hi all

Just tried Pete Robert's website to source some capacitors, but it comes up as not recognised by AOL. Does anyone know if Pete has a new web address? He does a terrific service, so I hope he is still in business.

thanks

I think he is, Trev. Well, he wrote an article in last month's Television anyway, so he can't have disappeared!

Try here: http://hometown.aol.co.uk/PeteRoberts007/home.htm

Nick.

I have sent him several emails recently enquiring about the availability of components but I haven't received a reply. I know this won't be his fault as he is usually very helpful. I assume he is away or AOL is playing up. Has anyone been able to get through to him recently?

I'd blame AOL!

There's a mobile phone number on the front page of his site - try calling or texting that.

I tried the mobile phone number yesterday but it just rang out. I didn't think of texting - I will try that.

Well, I sent a text on Sunday giving my email address but still no reply. I think I will have to try somewhere else.

Just received my latest order from Pete, within 5 days of posting.

Never had any problems with this excellent supplier.

Trev - How did you contact him? I have always found him helpful and very reasonably priced and don't really want to go to someone else.

Hi Paul

I just select what I want from his website, total it up (adding a £1 for postage) and send a cheque to him with the order. That's it really, unless you need to contact him regarding other things .....?

Right, I wanted an 11w bias resistor for a universal set I am repairing. Would the 6w he has listed do, do you think?

Thanks

I think it would get fried...but why not put two resistors in parallel, which would give you 12W to play with, and of course each resistor should be twice the value you need, if you see what I mean

Got my delivery from Pete today.Took seven days.Nothing wrong with that.Perhaps we should all take into account that this is largely a "cottage industry"with people doing full or part-time jobs. Now it's time to work on the radio.

He has now replied to my emails. Maybe he was away. Unfortunately I have just bought what I wanted from ebay!

Yes, I fully understand things being part time, I do something similar myself (in a different field). I suppose ultimately though, you are either doing something or you are not. I know for certain if I delayed replying to e-mails for more than a day or so, I would loose the business - as he has done in this case!
